Monday Moments with God is a quiet pause at the beginning of the week — a space to notice where God has been present in my life and to carry small moments of grace into the days ahead. These reflections aren’t meant to teach or explain, only to notice and to sit with what God is doing in ordinary life.

In this series, I hope that it feels like we’re sitting down together at the beginning of the week; not to figure everything out, but simply to notice where God has been faithful and to carry that awareness forward.

For Today

Over the weekend, we had a tea get-together with our women’s Bible study. It starts up again in a couple of weeks with Fearless and Free and this was a way for us to spend some time in fellowship before we dig in. I’ve been asked to be one of the assistant leaders and I’m very excited about it. I’ve been feeling God calling me in this direction for a while now.

From Sunday’s Readings

Jesus, the Light of the World, tells us that we are the light of the world. How can this be? We, the baptized, are carrying His light within us. Do I hide my light from others or do I share it with them?

From Yesterday’s Homily

What I gleaned – When we let our salt lose its taste or hide our light under a bushel, we are failing to live up to our potential. God gave us His Son as a sacrifice. He gave His potential over so that we could live up to ours.

I am the salt of the earth. I am the light of the world. That is what I am. Am I living up to that potential?

I have the potential to dig into God’s Word, to spend time in prayer with Him, to live Jesus’ example to me and yet, how often do I choose to scroll social media, watch TV, or other such things when I could be devoting myself to God?

I’m not going to let what Jesus did for me go to waste on me. (From Fr. Mike Schmidt’s homily)

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.

In My Bible Study

In our study of the book of Hebrews, Chapter 5, here’s what stuck with me this week: Jesus is our high priest. “Although he was a Son, he learned obedience through what he suffered; and having been made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him, 10 having been designated by God a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek.”

Noticing God

In my youngest grandson. There were such lovely comments on his report card about how when he sees someone in his Kindergarten class who is struggling, he reaches out to try and help. It warms my heart to see his kindness in action.

What I’m Learning About God

The more obedient I am to him, the more I grow in knowledge, understanding, and relationship with God.

Lord, help me to notice You in the ordinary moments of this week. Stay close as I move through my days, and teach me to listen with a quiet heart. Amen.

Where have you seen God’s presence in your life over the course of the last week?
